Recently, the board has released the TNPSC Group 1 Notification 2022 on 21st July 2022. TNPSC Group 1 is a recruitment exam conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) to recruit for various posts in the Tamil Nadu state administration. The posts such as Assistant Commissioner, Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police, etc come under Combined Civil Services Exam-1 and are combined under the TNPSC Group 1 exam. Candidates can apply online for the TNPSC Group 1 Recruitment 2022until 22nd August 2022. The commission releases online application forms on the official website. One needs to apply before the last date of submission of the online application and submit the application fee as well. Step 2- If you are a first-time candidate, complete your one-time registration with TNPSC first.

Step 3- Click on the 'Apply Online' tab on the homepage of TNPSC.

Step 4- Select Group 1 and the notification for the exam of the post that you are trying for.

Step 5- Fill all the relevant and mandatory fields and upload the required documents. After submitting the form, you will reach the fee payment section.

Step 6- Pay the application fee and note down your application number. Download the application form for future reference.

TNPSC Group 1 Recruitment Application Fee 2022

The one-time registration fee for TNPSC Group 1 is Rs 150. Once a candidate completes his registration, the registration is valid for 5 years. The candidate will not have to pay the registration fees for the next 5 years. They will have to pay the examination fee alone. 

The examination fees for the preliminary exam is Rs 100. The candidate should pay this amount while submitting the TNPSC online application.

The examination fees for the mains is Rs 200. Only the candidates who clear the prelims need to pay the fees. There is a full exemption in the examination fee for SCs, STs, destitute widows, and differently-abled people.

TNPSC Group 1 Recruitment Selection Process

The TNPSC Group 1 selection process consists of three stages:

  • The preliminary examination is a type of screening test. Only those candidates can appear for the mains exam who have qualified the preliminary exam. 
  • The Mains exam is a subjective-type written exam. The marks obtained in this exam will play a significant role in the selection process. Candidates who qualify mains will further receive a call for an interview. 
  • The personal interview is the final phase of the selection process. The final TNPSC Group 1 merit list is based on total marks obtained in mains as well as oral tests. However, the candidate should clear the certificate verification process as well for successful selection. 

Certificates Needed for Candidate Verification Post Selection

The following certificates are needed while applying for TNPSC Group 1 exam as well as when the applicant is called for document verification:

  • Residential Certificate
  • Aadhar ID or any other ID with a photograph.
  • Educational certificates such as mark sheets and degree certificates.
  • Birth Certificate
  • In case the applicant is already employed somewhere, then a No Objection Certificate from the employer.

  • Candidates applying to all posts under TNPSC Group 1 should also have a basic knowledge of Tamil. 
  • The educational qualifications prescribed for these posts should have been obtained by passing the required qualification in the following order of studies viz. 10th + HSC / Diploma or its equivalent + U.G. Degree.
  • The applicants, who have written the final year degree examination, may also apply for the Preliminary Examination for direct recruitment to the posts included in Combined Civil Services-I (Group-I Services), subject to the condition that they should produce proof of having passed the degree examination while uploading the original documents for the Main Written Examination (the last date for this activity would be announced later) failing which they will not be admitted to the Main Written Examination.

TNPSC Group 1 Recruitment 2022 Exam Pattern 

TNPSC Group 1 exam comprises three stages. Both the written examinations will be conducted online. Below are the details of the three phases of TNPSC Group 1 recruitment. 

  • Preliminary examination: The duration of the exam is 3 hours. The paper consists of 200 multiple-choice questions. The total marks are 300. 175 questions will be from General Knowledge, and 25 questions will be from Mental Ability and Aptitude. Each correct answer is awarded 1.5 marks. There is no provision of negative marking. 
  • Mains examination: The duration of the exam is 3 hours. It is a descriptive writing exam of 100 marks. The mains exam consists of 3 General Studies papers. Each is of 250 marks. No negative marking will be there. 
  • Interview: Qualified candidates will receive a call for a personal interview. It will be an oral test of 100 marks.

When the Salary is concerned, these Top level Officers get different allowances apart from the salary. Selected candidates will get a salary in the range of Rs 56,100 – Rs 2,05,700 (Revised Scale).
